Free Savings and Loan Protection
As a member of the NHS Credit Union you have unique protection provided free in the event of bereavement. These offer extra peace of mind to members for their families.
How do they work?
- Savings Protection means that in the event of a member’s death, their family will be provided with a single lump sum payment (* see below).
- The value of the payment is directly linked to the member’s savings, so the more the savings, the higher the payment. Up to a maximum of £5,000, for every £1 in savings can be matched by £1 of benefit.
- Loan Protection Scheme means that if a member dies, their NHS Credit Union debt can be paid off, (T&Cs apply, maximum value £15,000)*.
* Terms and conditions of these free member benefits may change from time to time.
Important Note: Individual members do NOT have an insurance policy it is a collective free benefit offered by NHS credit union.
Protection for your money
Your eligible deposits with the NHS Credit Union are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme. Any deposits you hold above the limit are unlikely to be covered.
